An installation about mixing and individuality

Insoluble Boundary

When two things mix, what happens to their separate identities? Insoluble Boundary brings this question into a small installation of red and blue material in transparent vessels.

When boundaries dissolve

We draw distinctions between the real and the virtual, here and there, and men and women. As these boundaries become less clear, what happens to the individuals on either side? Can they mix and still exist as separate individuals?

Through this work, I ask what a boundary is, and whether it can ever fully disappear.

Red and blue

Red and blue meet inside clear, round vessels. The transparent supports hold them at different heights under two lights, leaving the colors and the places where they meet visible. This material arrangement gives the question of individuality a physical form.
