A soft grip for an everyday bowl

Hold the Bowl Firmly

This bowl concept gives the fingers a soft place to press against at the rim. The aim is a more comfortable, stable grip that keeps fingers away from the food.

Rethinking the grip

A finger hooked over the rim can touch the food. Holding the bowl only from the outside can press against the knuckles and feel unstable. I addressed both problems with a soft insert set into the rim.

The insert compresses under the fingers, providing a place to grip while the hand supports the bowl. Its blue color makes this small change easy to find against the white bowl.

One rim, three uses

The shaped rim also works as a pouring point and a rest for chopsticks. These functions stay in the same small area as the grip, keeping the rest of the bowl simple.
